Michael Carrier has worked in language education for over 40 years as a teacher, trainer, author, and director in Germany, Italy, Poland, UK and USA, and lectured worldwide.
Michael has an MA in Applied Linguistics and an MBA, and is interested in both the academic and management aspects of ELT.
He was formerly CEO of the International House World schools network, Director of English Language Innovation at the British Council in London, and Executive Director of Eurocentres USA.
He has written many ELT coursebooks and professional articles, including the Break into English series, Front Page series, Business Circles and Spotlight Readers. His area of specialisation is digital learning and educational technology, and from 2003 to 2014 he was Technology Editor of MET Journal.
He is currently serving as a Trustee of the TIRF research foundation in the US, a Board member of ICC – the European Language Network, and a member of the English Language Advisory Group for the British Council.
He is a member of the Editorial Board of the ICC Journal and was formerly also a member of the Advisory Board of OUP’s English Language Teaching Journal, a Governor of International Students House, and a Trustee of the EAQUALS organization.
He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, and a member of the Society of Authors and the Oxford & Cambridge Club in London.
